87 years of expert advice and inspiration, for every couple.

Think of your walk down the aisle like a walk down a red carpet. You’re looking and feeling your best, you have on a show-stopping outfit, and when you leave your event, you’re in better company than when you came in (maybe not with a little gold trophy—but with your soulmate, which is way better). Basically, you’re the Meryl Streep of your wedding.

That’s why actual red carpets moment are usually filled with tons of beauty inspiration for your big day. Think: glowing no makeup-makeup (it’s a thing and it takes work!), an all-star lineup of smokey eyes, bold red lips, and flirty cat-eye flicks.

Here, we rounded up a few of our favorite, recent red carpet moments that would be a beautiful fit for all types of brides. Plus, a few tips, tricks, and products to help you recreate the look for when you say "I do."

A smoky eye is the Little Black Dress of the beauty world—timeless and great on everyone. For your wedding day, browns and other earthy tones make for a look that transitions well between a daytime ceremony and a nighttime reception. Celebrity makeup artist Loren Camby created this using Chanel Les 4 Ombres in 308 Clair-Obscur—a simple palette that includes buildable light taupes and deep mochas. “The tones are perfect on all skin types and have enough range to create a subtle or an intense eye,” says Camby.

As they say, the best bridal makeup should make you look like yourself but elevated. “This particular look is perfect for a bride because it focuses on enhancing natural beauty but adds enough definition to look stunning from afar, like when you’re walking down the aisle,” says celebrity makeup artist Dani Kimiko Vincent, who created this moment for Kristi Yamaguchi at the Espy awards. To replicate, focus on structured brows, defined lashes, and a flawless complexion (Kimiko Vincent recommends Armani Luminous Silk Foundation), then finish with a lipstick shade close to your natural lip color.

Nicole Kidman is as fresh as a springtime rose with this glowy, pink-hued look, perfect for a bride with romantic tastes. Makeup artist Kate Synott used gold and caramel shadows on the lid for a bit of whimsical shimmer—but the real pièce de résistance is the fairytale rosy flush, which was created with Roen Beauty Cheeky Blush in Soft Peach.

Synott recommends using a touch of translucent powder on your eyelids before applying a cream shadow to make it last throughout your wedding day.

A simple cat-eye can do all the flirty glances for you. Here, the seductive feline shape and dramatic lash are drawing most of the attention, so Synott kept the face light and fresh. She used a silky illuminating primer (Roen Elixir Restorative Face Oil here), diffused cream blush along the cheekbones, and a hydrating tinted lip balm in the freshest, sugary pink hue.

We love the idea of white graphic eyeliner for an edgier or non-traditional bride. An elongated cat-eye can be heavy on its own, but the white liner accents bring this look from femme fatale to elegant swan. If you’re playing with shapes like this, a felt-tipped liquid liner (Stila’s beloved Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner comes in white!) offers the best precision.

A red lip can transform any moment into a showstopping look. If your bridal style icon is Grace Kelly, go for glowy skin, a touch of black eyeliner, and a bold red lip. For a glossy lip that stays, try Haus Labs Atomic Shake Lip Lacquer in True Red. If matte is more your style, you can’t go wrong with MAC Matte Lipstick. And if you want something a bit more vintage 1920s Hollywood, look for a deep wine red like Fenty Beauty Stunna Lip Paint in Underdawg.

Celebrity makeup artist Sarah Egan loves this moody look for a fall or winter bride. “The combination of dramatic eyes and an eggplant lip is gorgeous,” she says. Lizzo’s smokey eye is a soft blend of purple hues to match the vampy lip, while an accentuated cheek contour adds a lot of drama. What's more, the lashes are the soft, fluttery icing on this cake. Egan recommends Hi Beautiful You Be You Mascara Lash Extension Treatment to give the appearance of false lashes without the weight (falsies take time to get used to!). But if you do prefer a false lash for your big day, Velour Lashes Vegan Mink Luxe Lash in Poker Face offers this same spiked shape.

Soft glam—aka shimmer, shadow, and glow—looks great on every bride. A peachy pink eyeshadow with sculpted cheeks and full brows brings plenty of drama without losing any of your natural beauty. The patron saint palette of this look is Anastasia Beverly Hills Eyeshadow Palette in Soft Glam (it has a nice range of pinks for any skin tone, plus a few dark browns for defining the lash line). For glowy cheekbones, Try Rare Beauty Positive Light Liquid Luminizer Highlight in Enlighten.

Sometimes great skin is all the makeup you need. If no-makeup makeup is your style, start your wedding day with a nourishing moisturizer, then buff your skin with a light coverage foundation or CC cream. Ilia’s Super Serum Skin Tint is great for a fresh, dewy complexion. If you’re feeling cheeky, add just a flick of eyeliner on the corners of your lids, as Aboah did here. For just a touch of natural color, a light, blendable cream blush—like Tower 28 BeachPlease Lip and Cheek Cream Blush—can be dabbed on your lips and the tops of your cheekbones.

If you’re on the hunt for something more playful or bohemian, a pop of unexpected color can brighten up your look. We love this sky-blue eyeliner, as it’s cheery and fun without pulling too much focus—and especially sweet next to the petal-colored blush and glossy pink lips. Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Waterproof Eyeliner Pencils come in 33 different colors—from hot pink to cobalt—so you can pick your favorite punchy hue.

A 60s-inspired, Brigitte Bardot-esque cat-eye is an iconic look that we see on red carpets every season. That’s why it's great for a bride that wants a bolder, more glamorous moment, but doesn’t want to be too experimental. The key to this look is lining both the top and bottom of the eyes, specifically with a bold black liner on top and a kohl pencil along the waterline and lash line on the bottom. Smudge a brown or bronze shadow along the lower lash line to give it a smoky finish. Brigitte herself would also approve of this peachy lip color, a signature look for her and a perfect subtle match for a bold eye.

Blink-and-you’ll-miss-it touches of gold glitter (or silver) are a great way to up the glamour while still keeping your makeup light and whimsical. While the rest of this look stays rosy and sweet, a peek of gold foil will catch the light in the best moments (during a kiss with your partner, for example). A great highly-pigmented and concentrated glitter is Lemonhead LA’s Spacepaste. “Gildebeest” would be a good match for what Petsch has here, but lining your upper lid with “Silverlake” would be just as bewitching.
