It made my lips feel amazing

There's nothing like a bit of lip oil to add some proper shine to your lips but it often comes at a price.

Lip oils are slightly different to gloss and are made with natural oils that are said to 'nourish and hydrate' the lips. The consistency is somewhere between a lip gloss and a lip balm, and many big brands have jumped onto the lip oil bandwagon.

Luxury brand Dior's 'Lip Glow Oil' is priced at a hefty £28, which is quite a lot considering it comes in a small tube. Luckily, drug store favourite Revolution offers yet another affordable dupe for beauty lovers, and I was lucky enough to get my hands on it.

The 'Revolution Pro Eternal Rose Lip Oil' is priced at £7 and many shoppers have been comparing it to the swanky Dior version. It's flying off the shelves with a limited supply available, with many reviews claiming the product is the "exact same" as the £28 lip oil.

Although I wasn't able to get this particular version, I was able to find the Love Island collection 'Lip Oil Girl Code' for £6, which has the exact same formula. Described as an 'ultra-hydrating lip oil', the product is peach scented and has a subtle pink shade. It has a non-sticky formula and comes in Revolution's 'pout bomb gloss component' with a doe foot applicator and pretty palm tree-patterned lid. I've always been put off lip glosses because they're incredibly sticky and I hate it when my hair gets stuck to my lips, so I was intrigued to give this lip oil a try to see if it was any better.

The Love Island lip oil comes in a small tube but the product is quite thick so a little goes a long way. The first thing I noticed was the scent of the oil, it smelt absolutely amazing - I was obsessed. I applied it to my lips and it glided on perfectly, it almost made my lips look like glass because the finish was so perfect! It wasn't sticky in the slightest and gave my lips a subtle hint of colour that wasn't too excessive. After leaving the oil on for a few hours, I noticed that it dried almost like a balm and left my lips feeling super hydrated. As someone that wears a lot of lipstick (particularly matte) on a day to day basis, I need all the hydration I can get, and this product offered just that.

I found myself topping up the product every few hours, not because I needed to, but because I loved the feel of it on my lips. It tasted amazing (don't pretend that's not an important feature for a lip product) and really finished off my makeup look quickly.

For those who are after a product that makes their lips feel luxurious and hydrated for a smaller fee, I'd highly recommend this Revolution Dior dupe. Once again, Revolution has absolutely smashed it with their dupe products, it gets a five out of five from me.
