If you’re a makeup addict, high chances are that you treasure your lipstick stash. A must-have and most-worn product in everyone’s vanity, a lipstick is that everyday indulgence that not only enlivens your face but also boosts your confidence, right? However, as we moved from sheer glossy lipsticks to long-staying liquid matte lipsticks, the health of our lips went for a toss. More often than not, the liquid matte lippies form a crusty layer on your lips. The result? Chapped, uncomfortable and unpleasant-looking lips. Hence, newer and better formulations have shone and risen in the recent past, making their way into the vanities of even those who swore by classic matte lipsticks before. I, for one, have embraced varied lipstick textures like never before. If you wanna give a break to drying liquid mattes and gift your lips a breather, make a note of these smart and lip-loving formulations.

A better and more pigmented version of lip tints (that are usually watery in nature), a lip stain is more mousse-y and creamy that sits lip a lip cream and glues to your lips, giving a long-lasting finish. Matte and opaque, I love lip stains for how intensely colour-packed they are plus how they can easily double up as cream blushes.

A creamy matte bullet is a must-have in my handbag everytime I head out and trust me it will become the same for you, once you try it out. Matte bullets can get drying too. And so, creamy matte lipsticks emerge as true saviours that come with the same highly-pigmented, matte finish; a slightly higher proportion of natural butters or oils is what boosts that creaminess and promises a comfortable wear.

Easily one of my favourites from the list, a powder matte lipstick is as matte as it can get sans the flakiness on the lips. While the whipped powdery matte texture glides on the lips like a dream, it’s the versatility of this product that makes it a winner for me. With powder matte lippies you can create several lip looks – blotted lip, stained lips, ombre lips for example – as well as use it on your cheeks and lids.

The hottest ‘it’ thing of the season, lip oils, are true game-changers. Not as tacky as a gloss but just as moisturising as a lip balm, lip oils are all we needed to ace those everyday minimalist beauty looks. Shiny, luxe-looking, nourishing and tinted too, lip oils (in both –  a light nude and a deep berry) should be at the forefront on your shelf.
