"Expressing yourself through makeup should never feel out of reach."
Over the years, Halsey has proven that they can do just about anything. The Grammy-nominated singer has put out four chart-topping albums, released a poetry book, and painted a live portrait while performing on Saturday Night Live. They've also been known to do their own makeup for performances and red carpet events, so it made total sense when they released their own beauty brand, About-Face, in January 2021. Since then, the brand has dropped vegan and cruelty-free products ranging from shimmery highlighters, matte liquid eye paints, creamy lip liners, shiny lip gloss, and loose glitter pigments, among others.
The award-winning brand recently held its Friends and Family Sale, which discounted its cult-favorite products at up to 40% off. On April 27, Halsey announced that About-Face will be permanently dropping its prices to the discounted rates from the sale. The singer took to Instagram to let fans know about the brand's new direction moving forward.
"When I launched about-face, my goal was to create makeup that empowers self-expression and individuality – accessible to everyone, everywhere, every way," they wrote in the caption of the post. "Being able to sit in front of a mirror, tune out the world and play with makeup has served as a creative outlet more times in my life than I can count. It’s a feeling I want to share with everyone."
"If there’s one thing the success of our recent Friends + Family Sale has brought to light, it’s that expressing yourself through makeup should never feel out of reach," they continued before announcing the price drop. Before the change, standalone products ranged from $17 to $32, and now, most of them are available for $20 or less. Select bundles are also available for less than $100. If Halsey and About-Face have proven anything, though, it's that the cost of self-expression through beauty is priceless.
